How we verify

Pediatric Therapy Finder is compiled from public records, not from who paid to be listed.

Sources

• NPPES NPI Registry (CMS) — The federal registry of National Provider Identifiers, published monthly by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. We use the September 2026 bulk file.
• NUCC Health Care Provider Taxonomy — The code set that defines each registered specialty.

We load every active NPI in the monthly NPPES bulk file whose primary taxonomy is Speech-Language Pathologist (235Z00000X, organizations only), Occupational Therapist – Pediatrics (225XP0200X, organizations and individuals) or Rehabilitation Clinic/Center (261QR0400X). Deactivated NPIs are excluded.

Individual speech-language pathologists are not listed one by one — there are more than 200,000 of them in NPPES — so the speech listings are practices and agencies. Pediatric OT is the only taxonomy here that names children; speech practices and rehab clinics may serve all ages, and we say so on their profiles.

“Children's clinics (by name)” is a simple name match (pediatric, kids, children's, infant, toddler, youth). It is a convenience filter, not a verification.

The registered specialty and license number are what each provider entered. NPPES does not verify them, so we label them as registered or listed and link every profile to the official registry record. We drop individual therapists whose NPI record has not been updated since before 2013, and list an organization once when it holds several NPIs at the same address.

Order within a city: organizations first (children's clinics and pediatric OT ahead of other clinics), then records updated most recently, then alphabetical. Featured listings appear in a separate, labelled box and never change that order.

What a badge means

Registry-checked: the provider's National Provider Identifier (NPI) is active in the September 2026 NPPES file published by CMS. Each listing shows the registered specialty and any license number exactly as the provider entered them. We only publish positive matches. A listing without a badge is not an accusation — most gaps are name variations between registries.

Freshness

Data was last refreshed on 2026-09-30. CMS publishes a new NPPES file every month; we re-load it monthly.
